China, Qing Dynasty
Mid-18th Century
Light-blue, violet glaze
H: 11,5 cm

A three-legged vase with blue glaze of the Junyao or Jun type. The legs are shaped in the form of mythical animal heads and paws. The glaze is stained with occasional purple spots. The most striking Jun goods employ blue to purple glaze colors, sometimes interspersed with white. They often show "splashes" of purple on blue, which sometimes seem random, although they are usually intentional. It is a high-ranking earthen-ware that was very much appreciated and often imitated in later periods. However, the colours range from a light greenish-brown to green to blue and violet. The shapes are mostly simple.
