This amphora comes from Persia, Isfahan region, and is proven to date from the 16th century. Amphorae are among the ancient vases and were used as storage and transport vessels. The archaic form and method of manufacture as well as the glaze colours and glaze techniques of these amphorae date back to the time of the Elamites and Babylonians (1,000-2,000 BC), as well as to the time of the Arsakids (3rd century BC - 3rd century AD).
