Democratic Republic of Kongo (formerly Zaire)
Kuba is an ancient, traditional textile craft of the Bakuba tribes from the Democratic Republic of Congo - formerly Zaire. The textiles were only discovered by art collectors in the 1980s. In the early 20th century, classical modern artists such as Henri Matisse, Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso were inspired by and influenced the style of the traditional designs.
